On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Fes News covered the events of the 14th spring session for university education in prisons, organized by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, in partnership with Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, at the Ras El Ma Prison. The session, held under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was distinguished by the diversity of its workshops aimed at rehabilitating inmates in various fields.
This year, the theme of the session was “The Contribution of Handicrafts Industries to the Reintegration of Inmates After Their Release,” focusing on developing the handicraft and personal skills of inmates through a series of interactive workshops. These workshops were divided into four small groups, with about 25 inmates participating in each.
Among the participating academics was Professor Abdelkarim El Idrissi, a university professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Fez, who gave a lecture on sociology and its applications in the field of prison rehabilitation. Other professors from the Faculty of Law and Economics also led workshops aimed at providing inmates with personal and handicraft skills, including tile-making, wood carving, and copper engraving.
Additionally, Professor Ismail El Aloui, a psychology professor, addressed emotion management in a workshop designed to enhance the psychological balance of inmates. He emphasized the importance of self-development and self-awareness as crucial steps towards personal and positive change.
Another workshop focused on life project planning, where Professor Abdelaziz Aloui delivered a lecture on psychological resilience and how to plan for a sustainable professional and personal future after release, which was met with positive feedback from the participants.
In summary, based on the key themes covered in this session, the spring session at Ras El Ma Prison remains an essential platform for the rehabilitation of inmates, equipping them with the necessary skills to assist in their social and professional reintegration after release.
