Major Drug Trafficking Operation Foiled in Kenitra

As part of the ongoing efforts by the National Security Services and the Directorate of Territorial Surveillance to combat drug trafficking and psychotropic substances, the Judicial Police of Kenitra successfully thwarted a major smuggling attempt of cannabis resin (chira) on the morning of Thursday, March 27, 2025. This operation was based on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The security operation took place on the road linking Kenitra to the Sidi Allal El Bahraoui area, where authorities intercepted a utility truck suspected of carrying a large shipment of drugs. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 50 packages of cannabis resin, weighing a total of 1 ton and 924 kilograms. Additionally, several forged license plates used to disguise the vehicle were seized.

Security forces are continuing their field investigations to identify the driver, who managed to escape, and to determine the identities of all individuals involved in this criminal operation. The suspects will be apprehended and subjected to a judicial inquiry under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.
