On Wednesday, March 26, Fes News witnessed the exciting final match of the first Women’s Football League, which was originally scheduled for Monday but was postponed due to rainy weather. The tournament, organized by the Agdal District in celebration of International Women’s Day and the Ramadan days, began on Saturday, March 15, and culminated in the crowning of Al-Mashwar Fes Jadid as the champion of this inaugural edition.
The final match was marked by strong competition and impressive performances from both teams. Al-Mashwar Fes Jadid dominated the match, showcasing their strength and resilience throughout the competition. Despite challenges, the team managed to secure the victory after a draw with the Morocco Fassi team in regular time. The outcome was decided through a penalty shootout, which favored Al-Mashwar Fes Jadid, making them the champions of the first edition of the league.
In his comments on the tournament, Abdel Salam El-Dabbagh, the third deputy mayor of the Agdal District responsible for culture and sports, emphasized the significance of this sports event in promoting women’s participation in team sports. He noted that the league was an essential step in supporting and developing women’s football in the region, marking a milestone in the progress of women’s sports in Fes and Morocco as a whole. El-Dabbagh added that the district would continue organizing sporting activities aimed at motivating girls and encouraging them to engage in various sports disciplines, thereby promoting a sports culture among women and girls.
