Mauritanian Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug Visits Morocco to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

During his official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, Mauritanian Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug held important discussions with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita. The talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, as well as continued coordination on issues of mutual interest.

In a press statement following the meeting, the Mauritanian minister emphasized that the Moroccan-Mauritanian relations are currently experiencing their best period of cooperation, thanks to the momentum created by the historic meeting between Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This meeting significantly contributed to advancing bilateral cooperation and brought the relationship between the two countries to new heights.

Minister Ould Merzoug noted that the visit was part of the ongoing coordination between the two countries at various levels, both bilaterally and multilaterally. He reaffirmed that the relationship between Morocco and Mauritania is strategic, based on close cooperation in many fields, including economics, security, and politics.

The minister also praised Morocco’s continuous support for Mauritania, especially during its tenure as the chair of the African Union. He highlighted Morocco’s strong support at all levels, both in the African summit framework and at the level of the Union’s executive council, reflecting Morocco’s deep commitment to supporting Mauritania’s efforts to enhance development and foster African cooperation.

Minister Ould Merzoug concluded his remarks by stressing that the talks provided an opportunity to explore future cooperation between the two nations and reaffirmed their shared determination to ensure the success of future projects that will strengthen bilateral relations and benefit both peoples.
