On Tuesday morning, March 25, 2025, police officers from the regional security division in the city of Chefchaouen, in coordination with the General Directorate for National Territorial Surveillance, arrested an 18-year-old individual suspected of spreading fake news and digital content inciting irregular migration.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the National Security’s Cybersecurity Unit had monitored social media posts and digital content claiming to be preparing to breach the security fence between the cities of Fnideq and Ceuta, urging social media users to engage in illegal migration.

Following technical investigations and fieldwork, the suspect’s identity was determined, and he was arrested in the rural area of “Bouztat,” part of the Bab Taza commune, located approximately 25 kilometers from Chefchaouen.

The suspect is currently under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to uncover all the details of the case and determine the true motives behind committing these criminal acts.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate for National Territorial Surveillance to combat irregular migration networks and human trafficking.
