Fes-Meknes Region Sees Increase in Cost of Living in February 2025, with 0.5% Rise in Meknes and 0.6% in Fes

The High Commission for Planning, in its monthly report on the consumer price index, revealed that the Fes-Meknes region experienced a significant increase in the cost of living during February 2025. In Fes, the index recorded an increase of 0.6%, while Meknes saw a rise of 0.5%, compared to January.

This rise is attributed to a sharp increase in food prices, particularly for fruits (+3.3%), vegetables (+2.7%), fish, dairy products, and eggs, as well as coffee, tea, and cocoa (+1.0%). On the other hand, there was a slight decrease in meat prices (-0.7%) and oils and fats (-0.6%).

Non-food prices also rose, particularly for fuel, which saw an increase of 1.9%, putting pressure on the purchasing power of households in the region.

Additionally, the core inflation index—excluding prices of regulated goods and those with high volatility—also increased by 2.0% in one month, reflecting ongoing inflationary pressures impacting various aspects of household spending.
