The Provincial Judicial Police in Agadir opened a judicial investigation this Saturday morning, March 22, under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, to determine the criminal actions attributed to two individuals. One of them is a police officer who was benefiting from a short-term sick leave, after being caught red-handed with a significant quantity of drugs intended for smuggling.
According to the preliminary details of the investigation, police officers in Agadir, in close coordination with the Directorate General for National Territorial Surveillance, were able to arrest the suspects aboard an all-terrain vehicle with forged license plates. The vehicle was carrying three bags of hashish weighing a total of 75 kilograms, in addition to an airgun and doses of cocaine.
Furthermore, a search conducted by the police inside the house of the police officer’s companion led to the seizure of an additional 97 kilograms of hashish, bringing the total quantity of drugs seized to 172 kilograms.
It was revealed through the police suspect’s data check in the National Security Database that he was the subject of a national arrest warrant issued by the judicial police in Casablanca, related to a similar case involving illegal drug trafficking.
The suspects have been placed under police custody pending the judicial investigation overseen by the public prosecutor’s office, in order to uncover all the circumstances surrounding the case and determine the extent of each party’s responsibility in these criminal actions.
In this context, the Directorate General of National Security confirmed that it would await the results of the ongoing judicial proceedings concerning the police officer to take the necessary disciplinary measures outlined in the special regulations for National Security personnel.
