Traditional Craftsmanship in the Spotlight: Fez-Meknes Chamber Prepares for Moroccan Wedding Festival

Fes News has learned that Mr. Naji Fakhari, President of the Chamber of Handicrafts for the Fez-Meknes region, presided over a communication meeting on Friday, March 21, 2025, with traditional artisans participating in the Moroccan Wedding Festival. The event kicks off today, March 22, and will run until March 29, 2025.

This festival is organized in partnership with the Chamber of Handicrafts for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Handicrafts for Fez-Meknes. It aims to support and promote traditional crafts, enhancing their visibility on both national and international levels.

According to the information obtained by Fes News, the meeting gathered key officials and industry stakeholders, including Mr. Mohsen Hammama, First Vice President, and Mr. Anouar Assal, Second Vice President, along with the Chamber’s Director and the Head of Infrastructure Promotion, Monitoring, and Training Services. Also in attendance were Mr. Abderrahim Belkhayat, Regional Director of Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, and Mr. Ibrahim Mastour, Fifth Vice President. Representing the copperware sector were Chamber members Mr. Noureddine Sayabi and Mr. Mohamed Mustaqim, alongside a group of artisans from Ain Nokbi’s copperware district in Fez.

The meeting emphasized the importance of artisan participation in this festival and its role in strengthening the market position of traditional products. Discussions highlighted the necessity of maintaining quality standards and ensuring equal opportunities for artisans in future exhibitions. The challenges faced by the copperware sector in Fez were also addressed, with a focus on encouraging innovation and development while preserving the cultural heritage of silver and copper craftsmanship.

This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of the Fez-Meknes Chamber of Handicrafts to support artisans, help them navigate industry challenges, and create new market opportunities, reinforcing traditional crafts as a vital economic and social sector in the region.
