Wave of Dismissals Continues at the Ministry of National Education: Secretary-General Younes Sehimy Relieved of Duties

In another move within a series of dismissals affecting officials at the Ministry of National Education, Minister Saad Barada has decided to terminate the duties of Secretary-General Younes Sehimy, following the recent dismissal of 16 regional directors.

Although no official announcement has been made by the ministry, the news has spread widely within educational circles. Various sources suggest that the decision may be linked to disagreements between the minister and the secretary-general over the management of certain files. Other reports indicate that the dismissal could be related to the “Pioneering Schools” project, a key reform initiative in the sector.

Younes Sehimy was appointed Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Education in April 2023 by government decree, despite not being among the official candidates for the position. Before that, he served as Chief of Staff to former Finance Minister Nizar Baraka.
