Government Committee Reviews Progress on Reconstruction Efforts in Al Haouz

The ministerial committee overseeing the reconstruction and rehabilitation of areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake held a crucial meeting, attended by the Prime Minister and several key officials, to assess the progress of ongoing projects and evaluate the measures taken.

Following the meeting, Said Laith, Director of the Grand Atlas Development Agency, stated that the gathering provided an opportunity to review the support provided to affected families. He highlighted that the reconstruction and rehabilitation of many homes had reached advanced stages, while several families were close to completing their work after receiving financial aid in multiple installments.

The director also pointed out that the meeting closely examined the challenges posed by housing in difficult mountainous terrains, which present additional obstacles to reconstruction efforts. Various solutions were discussed, including major infrastructure projects adapted to the region’s complex geography or the potential relocation of some homes to more stable and secure areas.

Additionally, the progress of reconstruction efforts in educational and healthcare institutions was a key topic, given their essential role in restoring normal life in the affected regions. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the pace of work, in line with the royal directives aimed at ensuring the swift recovery of these vital services.

Said Laith further emphasized that the current focus is on overcoming logistical and technical challenges to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and meet the highest quality standards, guaranteeing the long-term sustainability of the reconstruction process.

This meeting is part of the ongoing monitoring efforts within the national program for rehabilitating affected areas, as authorities remain committed to implementing the royal vision for comprehensive support to affected families and ensuring balanced, sustainable development in the earthquake-stricken mountainous regions.
