Security Operation Strikes Hard: Intelligence Leads to the Dismantling of a Dangerous Criminal Network and the Seizure of Large Quantities of Cocaine and Psychotropic Pills

In a well-coordinated security operation, the police in Tetouan, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), successfully dismantled a criminal network specializing in drug trafficking and psychotropic substances. The operation, conducted early Thursday morning, resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics and the arrest of two individuals suspected of involvement in these illegal activities.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the raid took place in the rural area of Al-Qatout, within the Ounane commune near Ouazzane. Authorities confiscated 94,728 psychotropic pills of various types, three kilograms of cocaine, and 14 kilograms of hashish (chira). Additionally, eight bladed weapons, sums of money in both national and European currencies—suspected to be proceeds from drug sales—were found at the scene.

The search also uncovered three electronic scales, a canister of tear gas, two wireless communication devices (walkie-talkies), six forged license plates, and two vehicles believed to have been used in trafficking operations.

The police arrested two brothers, aged 29 and 41, who were placed under judicial custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. The probe aims to identify other possible accomplices and uncover the full extent of the network’s operations.

This security intervention aligns with Morocco’s ongoing efforts to combat organized crime, disrupt drug trafficking operations, and ensure public safety.
