The double control for international passengers upon departure and arrival at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca has been abolished and replaced with automated gates, as part of efforts to improve the flow of passengers and streamline security procedures. The National Office of Airports (ONDA) announced on Monday that this step is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the passenger experience and simplify security measures.
Previously, the double control required passengers to present their passports a second time after stamping upon arrival or departure. However, this process has now been replaced with automated gates that operate faster and more securely. The Office stated in a press release that “this development has been made possible thanks to the installation of automated gates, which allow for faster and more secure passenger screening.”
Thanks to these updates, passengers will enjoy smoother border crossings, reducing long waiting times and improving the overall travel experience.
The Office added that “these measures will be gradually extended to all airports in the Kingdom by the summer season of 2025, after equipping all airport infrastructures with these new devices.” It also emphasized that the goal is to “combine efficiency and security by adopting advanced technological solutions to support the growth of international air traffic while ensuring optimal border control.”
This step is part of ongoing efforts to improve Morocco’s airport infrastructure and strengthen its position as a major hub for international travel in the region.
