Family counselor and marriage coach, Adel Nkaas, confirmed that a Muslim can fast even while in a state of janabah (ritual impurity), explaining that purification is only a requirement for the validity of prayer, and it does not affect the validity of fasting.
Nkaas added that janabah does not prevent a person from fasting correctly, even if a marital relationship occurs and the couple is unable to perform the ritual bath before the next day’s noon prayer.
He emphasized the importance of a correct understanding of fatwas regarding fasting and janabah, reaffirming that abstaining from food and drink during the day in Ramadan remains a duty, regardless of an individual’s personal state.
