Fez and Meknes, two major tourist hubs in the Fes-Meknes region, are preparing to welcome new tourist information and guidance centers as part of a comprehensive investment worth 68 million dirhams. This ambitious project aims to improve the reception and guidance of national and international visitors, facilitating access to key landmarks in both cities and providing essential information and services for tourists.
According to information obtained by “Fes News,” this investment is part of a recent partnership agreement between the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, the region’s Wilaya, and the Regional Council. The agreement also includes the province of Meknes and the Moroccan Tourism Engineering Company (SMIT).
The project will be funded with a significant contribution from the Regional Council, amounting to 45 million dirhams, while the remaining funds will come from the other partners. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to develop the tourism sector in the region, particularly through funding and implementing programs to support cultural tourism in both cities.
The new centers will serve as spaces dedicated to promoting local heritage, providing reception services, guidance, and tourist signage. The agreement also includes the launch of a tourist bus service in the spiritual capital of the Kingdom, with plans to expand this service to cover all major hubs in the region.
According to statements from tourism stakeholders to “Fes News,” this initiative will support tourism projects in the region by creating complementary infrastructure and promoting the destination. The National Federation of the Hotel Industry (FNIH) emphasizes that improving infrastructure plays a crucial role in providing a distinctive tourist experience, as it shapes the first impression for visitors and facilitates their stay.
The project is expected to enhance the region’s appeal by providing modern services and improved connectivity, especially as the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap places the Fes-Meknes region at the heart of Morocco’s tourism strategy, with targeted investments and unprecedented collaboration among various stakeholders.
