Marrakech Police, in close cooperation with the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance, successfully arrested two individuals involved in multiple crimes, including escaping from a detention facility, illicit drug trafficking, and theft.
According to a security source, the operation took place on Friday in the Tamensourt area, located on the outskirts of Marrakech, where the primary suspect, a 29-year-old male, was arrested. The operation required the use of a Taser gun to force the suspect to comply after he violently resisted and refused to stop.
The investigation also led to the arrest of another individual accompanying the main suspect. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that this person was wanted by the authorities on similar charges related to drug trafficking and illicit substances.
The primary suspect had previously been placed under provisional detention for his involvement in drug-related and theft offenses. He managed to escape on March 1st, prompting security services to carry out a thorough search operation, which ultimately led to his location being identified in Tamensourt, where he was apprehended.
Both suspects have been held under provisional detention while investigations continue under the supervision of the public prosecutor to determine all the criminal actions attributed to them and uncover the circumstances surrounding the main suspect’s escape from the detention facility.
