In celebration of International Women’s Day, “Fes News” has learned that the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners organized an Iftar ceremony at Toulal 2 Prison in Meknes on Friday. The event was attended by female inmates as well as several key figures from various sectors and institutions involved in reintegration and aftercare.
A statement issued by the Foundation revealed that women from various organizations were present, including representatives from the institution and the General Delegation for Prison Administration, as well as the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the National Cooperation Agency, the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Competencies, and civil society associations that contribute to reintegration efforts.
The event also saw the honoring of several trailblazers in the field of reintegration and aftercare from Meknes, who represent the relevant institutions. Their recognition was in acknowledgment of their continuous efforts to promote societal integration values and support Moroccan women, both inside and outside prison institutions.
The ceremony concluded with a medical campaign to measure the vision of all female inmates, with eyeglasses provided based on the identified health needs. Additionally, honorary gifts were distributed to all inmates as a form of support and encouragement for their social commitment.
This initiative aligns with the strategy of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners, which aims to rehabilitate inmates and empower them to reintegrate into society positively after their release. It also reflects the royal directives focusing on improving the social conditions of female prisoners and facilitating their reintegration into society.
The statement concluded by noting that the ceremony was attended by judicial and human rights activists, as well as staff from Toulal 2 Prison and the Reintegration and Accompaniment Center in Meknes. The importance of enhancing social protection for female inmates and developing reintegration pathways, as part of the wise vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was emphasized.
