In a press conference following the weekly meeting of the government council held on Thursday, March 6, Mustafa Baitas, the government spokesman, emphasized that market supply in Morocco is a top priority for the government, especially in light of the noticeable increase in demand for consumer goods during the month of Ramadan. Baitas explained that the government is continuously working to ensure market stability, providing consumer goods in sufficient quantities and high quality, noting that this issue holds great importance for all relevant government sectors.
Baitas also pointed out that the meeting, held at the Ministry of Finance, was attended by representatives from various concerned ministries. The focus was on ensuring proper market supply, particularly in the exceptional circumstances during Ramadan. He added that the aim of this coordination meeting was to enhance cooperation between different sectors to ensure the availability of essential goods to citizens without any shortages or unjustified price increases.
Regarding the supervision of the quality of consumer goods, Baitas stressed that the government is taking strict measures to ensure the safety of food products available in the markets. He mentioned that the National Office for Food Safety had issued a statement confirming its full commitment to closely monitoring food products to ensure their quality, whether domestic or imported. He assured that the government guarantees that all consumer goods comply with the required standards, with continuous supervision of all products on display.
Baitas also confirmed that the government continues to engage in dialogue with all concerned parties, including economic and social actors, to ensure effective decisions that stabilize the markets.
