The Board of Directors of Tanger Med Port decided, in an emergency meeting held on Thursday, February 27, to dismiss the General Director, Hassan El Abkari, from his position. This decision comes in the wake of media reports revealing El Abkari’s involvement in external commercial activities that may conflict with his official duties.
According to journalistic reports, particularly from the Spanish newspaper Economía Digital, El Abkari has been implicated in suspicious commercial activities, which constitute a breach of his duties and the principles of trust and integrity. These activities include the establishment of a consulting company in Valencia, Spain, as well as involvement in real estate transactions in Spain since last January.
Following the dismissal, Mohamed Oularbi has been appointed as interim director, pending the completion of investigations related to El Abkari’s establishment of the consulting firm in Spain.
