In a meticulously executed security operation reflecting the efficiency of Moroccan-French security cooperation, Moroccan authorities represented by the Marrakech Judicial Police, in close coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance successfully arrested two internationally wanted French nationals on the evening of Sunday, February 23.
This high-profile operation was carried out in response to international arrest warrants issued by French authorities, based on Red Notices circulated by INTERPOL. The suspects were wanted for their involvement in serious organized crime offenses.
According to initial findings, the two individuals, aged 28 and 38, were implicated in a brutal murder targeting prison staff in France on May 14, 2024. This crime was part of a premeditated operation that led to the escape of French-Algerian inmate Mohamed Amara, who was recently apprehended in Romania. Investigations also suggest the suspects’ involvement in other offenses, including illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, fraud, attempted murder, and acts of vandalism against both public and private property.
Following intensive investigations, Moroccan security forces successfully located the fugitives in Marrakech. A precision security operation was then launched, resulting in their arrest without significant resistance. The suspects have been placed under provisional custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, while French authorities have been notified to initiate extradition procedures in accordance with international security cooperation protocols.
This operation is a testament to the effectiveness of the security partnership between Morocco and France.
