Police Officer Forced to Use Service Weapon During Security Intervention in Ben Slimane

Ben Slimane, February 23, 2025 — A police officer working in the regional security zone of Ben Slimane was forced to use his service weapon on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23, 2025, during a security intervention to arrest a 65-year-old man. The man violently resisted and obstructed judicial procedures, threatening officers with a bladed weapon, which escalated the situation.

According to preliminary investigation information, a judicial police unit intervened to arrest an individual involved in drug trafficking at his home in the Farah neighborhood of Ben Slimane. However, the suspect’s 65-year-old father violently resisted and threatened the officers with a bladed weapon in an attempt to obstruct the arrest.

Faced with this serious and imminent threat, the police officer was compelled to use his service weapon, first firing a warning shot. As the man continued to resist and refused to comply, the officer fired another shot, hitting the suspect in the lower limbs, which neutralized the threat he posed.
