On Friday evening, Florence Square in Fez witnessed a large security alert after a huge fire broke out in one of the old buildings, where the fire consumed two floors of the building, causing panic among residents and passers-by.
As soon as they were notified of the incident, civil protection teams rushed to the scene, supported by security personnel and local authorities, to work to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to neighboring buildings.
The newspaper learned from unconfirmed sources that there are reports of an elderly woman trapped inside the damaged building.
The competent authorities are still closely following the developments of the fire, while the cause of the fire is not yet known, as an investigation is expected to be opened to uncover the circumstances and determine the extent of the potential material and human losses.
