As part of ongoing efforts to combat corruption and uphold integrity within the security institution, the Regional Judicial Police Brigade in Marrakech launched a judicial investigation this Friday afternoon, February 21, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The investigation concerns a police commissioner working at the Regional Police Station in Ait Melloul, who is suspected of involvement in a case of extortion and soliciting bribes.
This action follows a complaint received by the security authorities, alleging that the officer had extorted one of the parties involved in a criminal case, demanding a sum of money in exchange for neglecting his official duties. The security services took the complaint seriously, leading to the suspect being caught red-handed while receiving the illicit payment.
The arrested officer has been placed in police custody pending the judicial investigation, which aims to uncover all aspects of the case and determine any possible further implications.
On an administrative level, informed sources confirmed that the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) will take appropriate disciplinary measures against the accused officer once the judicial proceedings are concluded, in accordance with the regulations governing national security personnel. This step aligns with the commitment to transparency and accountability within the security institution.
