European MPs Denied Entry at Laayoune Airport and Sent Back on Same Flight

“Fes News” has received a video circulating on social media showing Moroccan authorities preventing a European parliamentary delegation from disembarking at Laayoune Airport, the largest city in Morocco’s southern provinces. The delegation was forced to return on the same flight they arrived on.

The footage captures moments of confusion inside the aircraft, with some delegation members appearing surprised by Morocco’s firm decision. Meanwhile, Moroccan authorities have maintained official silence, reiterating their unwavering stance against any attempts to interfere in the Western Sahara issue.

According to circulating reports, the delegation included Spanish MP Isa Serra, along with European Parliament members Jussi Saramo from Finland and Catarina Martins from Portugal. Their agenda for Thursday included meetings with the Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) and the Association of Families of Political Prisoners from the Gdeim Izik events.

Spanish media sources, including El Mundo, confirmed that the visit was coordinated with the Polisario Front and directly supported by Spain’s Podemos party, known for its opposition to Morocco’s territorial integrity.

This move reflects Morocco’s firm stance against initiatives promoting narratives that challenge its sovereignty, especially amid growing international support for Morocco’s position on the Sahara, which has received increasing recognition from key global powers.
