A group of African teams have chosen to play their 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Moroccan soil, taking advantage of the Kingdom’s advanced infrastructure in the field of sports stadiums.
According to WinWin, Burkina Faso decided to host their Ethiopian counterparts at the El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, as part of the sixth round of the qualifiers.
For its part, the Comoros chose the municipal stadium in Berkane to host its Malian counterpart, within the framework of the fifth round of Group IX, while Burundi will play its match against Côte d’Ivoire at the honorary stadium in Meknes, for the fifth round of Group VI.
In the same context, the Ethiopian national team settled on the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, to be the venue for its match against Egypt, within the sixth round of Group A.
These choices reflect the confidence of African teams in the quality of Moroccan stadiums and their ability to host international matches in accordance with the required standards, thus consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a prominent sports destination at the continental level.
