Foiled Terror Plot: Pro-ISIS Cell Dismantled and Explosive Device Seized

The Fez News editorial team has received a security statement confirming that ongoing investigations into the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to the African branch of ISIS led to the seizure of an additional explosive device on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, near Rabat. This development comes as part of Morocco’s continued counterterrorism efforts.

According to the joint statement issued by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the device was discovered in an isolated area in Sidi Al Arabi, Ain Aouda. Members of the dismantled terrorist cell, who were arrested in Temara, had buried the device under layers of soil to conceal it.

The seized explosive device consisted of a gas cylinder connected to electrical wires and tubes, indicating a high level of preparation for a potential terror attack. Specialized teams from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) were deployed to safely extract and document the device, which has now been added to the evidence in the ongoing investigation.

This preemptive security operation is part of Morocco’s proactive strategy to combat terrorism and extremism, ensuring the safety and stability of the country. Authorities continue to investigate the cell’s possible network connections and intended targets, reinforcing Morocco’s firm stance against terrorist threats.
