On Tuesday, the second session of the February regular session of the Ain El Chakf community was held amid a charged atmosphere characterized by tense discussions between council members, especially on sensitive issues related to urban planning and the local budget.
The session was dominated by the discussion of the issues of the Janan subdivision and the urban pole with the company Al Omran Fes, which was previously postponed due to the failure of the company’s representative to attend, which raised the displeasure of a number of councillors who considered the repeated postponement as an obstacle to finding practical solutions.
The session also witnessed a heated debate over the presentation of the FY2024 budget implementation statement and the programming of the real surplus, as some members expressed their reservations about some budget items, pointing to the need for more transparency in the management of financial resources.
In another context, the Council deliberated and voted on an agreement for the implementation of a project to build a canal in the Fez Valley and develop its “wards,” a project that falls within the Fez-Meknes Regional Development Program 2022-2027, where opinions were divided between supporters of the initiative and reservations about the details of financing and implementation.
The session was concluded amid continuing disagreements over some files, reflecting the magnitude of the challenges facing the community in light of the expectations of the population and the movements of local actors to demand the achievement of the desired development.
