Hind Al-Mouhi, of the National Rally of Liberals (RNL) party, was elected as the new head of the Jnan Al-Ward district in Fez on Monday morning, after receiving 20 out of 29 votes, while 9 members abstained from voting.
The election follows the arrest of former president Radha Assal and his detention in the Borghese remand prison, following his prosecution in a case of financial and administrative corruption.
Khawla Benamar of the Authenticity and Modernity Party and Zainab Filali of the Istiqlal Party were also elected as vice-presidents.
It is noteworthy that the corruption case that shook the scientific capital exploded in July 2024, where a number of officials, including the former head of the province, his deputy, the commander of an annex, authority officers, engineers and public employees, are being pursued in the file, due to their suspected involvement in bribery cases related to construction, and the investigating judge at the Fez Court of Appeal decided to pursue a number of defendants in a state of detention in Borgayez prison.
