Regional Awareness and Screening Campaign for HIV, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis Held in Fes

As part of ongoing efforts to promote public health and combat sexually transmitted diseases, the Al Ghassani Regional Hospital Center in Fes hosted a regional awareness and screening campaign on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The campaign focused on HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and syphilis.

This initiative was organized in coordination with the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in the Fes-Meknes region, the Provincial Health and Social Protection Delegation in Fes, and the Al Ghassani Regional Hospital Center. It falls within the framework of the 2024-2030 integrated regional program for combating sexually transmitted infections, HIV, and viral hepatitis, aligned with the national disease control program.

The campaign witnessed a significant turnout, benefiting 268 individuals, primarily young people, with 30% aged between 18 and 25 years. Among the participants, 110 were men and 158 were women. The event included awareness sessions on prevention methods, medical screenings for early detection, pre- and post-test counseling, and the distribution of informational brochures on risks and protective measures.

This initiative aims to encourage voluntary testing, facilitating early detection and timely medical intervention to prevent complications and enhance treatment effectiveness. It also aligns with the “Fes Without AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases” charter, which aspires to significantly reduce the prevalence of these diseases by 2030 and improve community health.

Organizers emphasized that all screenings are available free of charge at urban and rural health centers, ensuring full confidentiality and requiring prior consent from individuals seeking testing. Furthermore, reference centers provide confirmatory tests and free treatment, safeguarding patients’ rights and increasing their chances of recovery.
