In a major security operation, Spanish authorities successfully thwarted one of the most dangerous drug smuggling attempts, thanks to precise intelligence from Morocco, leading to the seizure of over two tons of hashish before it reached European markets.
The operation took place on the northern coast of Tenerife, part of the Canary Islands, after Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) alerted its Spanish counterparts about a suspicious boat carrying a large shipment of drugs. Acting swiftly, the Spanish Civil Guard intercepted the smugglers in the act, seizing 53 bundles of drugs, totaling 2,075 kilograms.
Authorities managed to arrest six individuals and confiscated five mobile phones and classified documents. The suspects now face serious charges related to public health endangerment and involvement in an international criminal network.

This operation is yet another testament to Morocco’s leading role in global security, with its intelligence services proving to be a crucial ally in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.
