Preparations Underway for the Second Edition of “AgriTech Expo” in Sefrou

On February 11, 2025, Fes News observed the ongoing preparations for the second edition of AgriTech Expo, scheduled to take place on February 17 in the city of Sefrou. The preparatory meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Mr. Amjad Kiti, Director of the Economic Takeoff and Territorial Offer Hub at the Regional Investment Center of the Fes-Meknes region.

This event aims to highlight the latest innovations and technologies in water resource management and the promotion of drought-resistant crops in light of current environmental and climate challenges. It also serves as a platform to strengthen partnerships between local and international stakeholders, with support from the Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several strategic partners.

In a statement to Fes News, Mr. Amjad Kiti emphasized that this forum is a pivotal opportunity to support young entrepreneurs in the field of agricultural technology. He highlighted the importance of integrating technological solutions for water resource management in the Fes-Meknes region, which ranks as the second-largest water reservoir at the national level.

The meeting focused on four key areas: water resource management, the enhancement of drought-resistant crops, the role of technology in improving agricultural productivity, and support for young innovators in agricultural entrepreneurship. Field study findings on agricultural production chains were also presented, with a particular focus on the olive oil sector, which is one of the most promising industries in the region.

Participants stressed the need to integrate youth, women, and people with disabilities into agricultural production chains by providing innovative solutions that foster social and economic inclusion. Additionally, new initiatives were announced to support young entrepreneurs through funding from the National Initiative for Human Development, aiming to enhance their capabilities and enable them to propose practical solutions to challenges in the agricultural sector.

The meeting concluded with a call to invest in modern technology to address climate change and water scarcity. Participants expressed their hopes that the second edition of AgriTech Expo would serve as a launchpad for innovative projects that contribute to sustainable development in the Fes-Meknes region.
