Fez-Meknes Development Program: Meeting Held on Construction of Fez River Canal

As part of the 2022-2027 Fez-Meknes Regional Development Program, the Committee for Public Facilities and Services held a meeting yesterday at the office of the President of Ain Chkef Municipality in Fez. The session focused on reviewing a special agreement for the construction of a canal along the Fez River and the development of its surroundings.

The project aims to enhance water resource management, strengthen regional infrastructure, and improve environmental conditions, ultimately boosting the quality of life for residents. It also aligns with broader efforts to modernize the urban landscape and increase the area’s attractiveness.

Notably, this initiative was included in the agenda of the March 2024 session of the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, which took place last year at the Boulemane Province headquarters in Missour. The current meeting served to discuss the technical and financial aspects of the project, ensuring proper coordination among stakeholders to accelerate its implementation in line with predefined objectives.

With high expectations from local residents, the key challenge remains translating these discussions into tangible actions on the ground, ensuring the project’s completion within the set deadlines—avoiding delays that could compromise its effectiveness and developmental impact.
