On Friday, the cities of Rabat and Wesselane witnessed two protests in which hundreds of Moroccans participated, denouncing former US President Donald Trump’s plan to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
In Wesselane, the Moroccan Committee for the Support of Ummah Issues organized a rally during which participants raised Palestinian flags and chanted anti-Israel and anti-American slogans, including “Resistance is a trust,” “O free people everywhere, no Zion, no Americans,” and “Long live Palestine.” The protesters stressed their rejection of Trump’s plan to expel Palestinians from Gaza. The protesters emphasized their categorical rejection of any project aimed at displacing Palestinians from Gaza, stressing their support for the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli occupation.
In Rabat, the Action Group for Palestine organized a rally in front of the parliament building, where protesters held banners denouncing the US plan, some of which read “We reject Trump’s Zionist project of ethnic cleansing” and “No displacement, no siege … our Jerusalem is for the free.” The protesters also called on Arab and Islamic countries to support the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli occupation. The protesters also called on Arab and Islamic countries to take urgent action to confront this plan, warning of its dangerous repercussions.
Last Tuesday, during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump revealed his intention to displace Gaza’s residents, sparking a wave of regional and international rejection. Since January 25, he has been promoting a plan to relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan, which these countries, along with other Arab and international parties, have rejected.
It is noteworthy that Israel, with US support, committed genocide in Gaza between October 7, 2023 and January 19, 2025, resulting in more than 159,000 dead and wounded, mostly children and women, in addition to more than 14,000 missing persons. On January 19, a ceasefire and exchange of weapons began to take effect.
