Belgian Foreign Minister Reaffirms Strong Ties with Morocco and Supports Autonomy Plan for the Sahara

During his official visit to Morocco yesterday, Belgian Foreign Minister Bernard Quintin emphasized the strength of the bilateral relations between Belgium and Morocco, highlighting the importance of joint cooperation in various fields, particularly in security, economic, and humanitarian matters.

At the beginning of his speech, Quintin expressed his gratitude to Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, for the warm reception. He noted that the relations between the two countries have spanned many years and are characterized by close cooperation across multiple sectors. Regarding international affairs, Quintin addressed the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, expressing Belgium’s concern over escalating human rights violations and stressing the need for effective international action to address the crisis. He also emphasized the crucial role of the African Union in ensuring stability across the continent, reaffirming Belgium’s support for regional initiatives aimed at achieving security and peace in Africa.

On the Middle East, the Belgian minister took a cautious stance on the ongoing events in Gaza, stressing the necessity of reaching a balanced political solution that ensures the rights of all parties.
