Interior Minister Calls for Innovative Solutions to Regulate Taxi Sector in Morocco

During a session of oral questions in the House of Councillors, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit emphasized the need for innovative solutions to regulate Morocco’s taxi sector amid growing social and economic challenges.

The minister highlighted the pressing issues surrounding the transport sector, particularly regarding taxi permits for both large and small taxis. He stressed the importance of engaging all stakeholders in a serious dialogue to develop practical and sustainable solutions that align with ongoing transformations in the field.

Laftit also addressed the impact of ride-hailing apps, acknowledging that technological advancements must be managed with awareness and responsibility. He assured that the ministry is not ignoring these changes but is working to find a balance that safeguards the rights of professionals while protecting the interests of citizens.

The minister further stated that the Ministry of Interior is conducting necessary studies to assess the current situation. He assured that appropriate decisions will be made in the near future to enhance service quality and improve the sector’s efficiency, meeting the expectations of both citizens and professionals.
