The Regional Judicial Police Service in Marrakech announced the opening of a criminal investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, on Wednesday, January 15, into a case of assault, injury, and threats of murder. Two foreign nationals are suspected in the case—one of Moroccan descent and the other from a sub-Saharan African country.
The incident was reported following a complaint filed by a French national of Moroccan origin, who claimed to have been physically assaulted in his garage in Marrakech. The complainant stated that the two suspects attacked him with blows and injuries, in addition to threatening to kill him. A video documenting the incident was submitted alongside the complaint to the police.
In the course of the intensive investigation led by the judicial police, security teams were able to identify and apprehend the suspects in Marrakech. The investigation continues to uncover the circumstances surrounding the assault, which is believed to be linked to a previous personal conflict between the parties while they were in France.
A search conducted at the suspects’ homes by security authorities led to the seizure of bladed weapons, a metal baton, a face mask, and several identification documents, both national and foreign.
The suspects are currently being held in police custody, following an order from the public prosecutor, pending the completion of investigations to determine the full extent of the criminal acts attributed to them.
