On the afternoon of Monday, January 13, 2025, Fes News witnessed a vibrant celebration organized by Ibn Al-Atheer Primary School in the Al-Mereniyyin district of Fes, marking the Amazigh New Year, “Yennayer 2975.” This cultural event aligns with His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s high regard for the Amazigh identity as a cornerstone of Moroccan heritage and is part of the Fes-Meknes Schools Festival, aimed at enriching school life and showcasing students’ talents.
The event, supervised by the Regional Academy of Education and Training Director for Fes-Meknes, showcased rich traditions and rituals reflecting the depth and authenticity of Amazigh culture. A traditional Amazigh tent adorned with heritage-inspired decorations was set up, featuring traditional artifacts, cookware, and authentic clothing that added a cultural flair to the occasion.
Participants wore traditional Amazigh attire, and special New Year’s dishes were served, delighting attendees and offering a glimpse into Amazigh culinary heritage.
Students performed Amazigh-inspired songs, chants, and traditional dances, creating a joyful and engaging atmosphere. These activities received enthusiastic applause from the audience, highlighting the success of the event in celebrating and preserving Amazigh culture.
