In a high-level security operation, police officers from the Agadir Security Directorate, in close coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), dismantled a criminal network involved in drug trafficking and illegal migration on Sunday, January 12. The operation resulted in the arrest of four individuals, including two with prior criminal records, following a meticulously executed field operation.
The operation began at the entrance of Agadir, where police intercepted two individuals traveling in a refrigerated truck originating from northern Morocco. A search of the vehicle uncovered 155 grams of cocaine and two marine engines suspected to be intended for illegal sea migration operations.
Simultaneously, investigations led authorities to raid the main suspect’s residence in the town of Dcheira. The raid uncovered quantities of a white powder under examination, along with an electronic scale and financial transaction receipts believed to be proceeds from illegal activities.
Further investigations identified two additional accomplices linked to the criminal network. They were apprehended in the city of Inezgane, where large-sized bladed weapons were seized from their possession. Background checks revealed that one of the suspects was wanted nationwide under two arrest warrants issued by the Royal Gendarmerie and the Judicial Police in Settat and Inezgane, respectively, for financial and economic crimes as well as a hit-and-run incident.
All the suspects are now under provisional detention as ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office. Investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved and uncover the full extent of this criminal activity.
This operation highlights the readiness and effectiveness of Moroccan law enforcement in combating organized crime and safeguarding public security.
