Morocco Braces for Severe Cold Wave: Subzero Temperatures from Tuesday to Friday

Several provinces in Morocco are preparing to face a severe cold wave from Tuesday, January 14 to Friday, January 17, 2025, as indicated by the forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

Temperatures in many areas are expected to range between -08 and 09 degrees Celsius, with some regions such as Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Figuig, Chichaoua, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Midelt, and Taroudant likely to experience minimum temperatures ranging from -08 to -02 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures will be between 00 and 06 degrees Celsius.

In areas like Jerada, Taourirt, and some mountainous regions of Guercif, Taza, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Zagora, Errachidia, Tiznit, and Tata, minimum temperatures are expected to range from -04 to 01 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures between 03 and 09 degrees Celsius.

Major cities and coastal areas such as Oujda-Angad, Driouch, El Hajeb, Khemisset, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Casablanca, and Mohammedia will record minimum temperatures ranging from -01 to 04 degrees Celsius.

These cold conditions come with an orange alert from the General Directorate of Meteorology, prompting citizens to take necessary precautions to cope with these harsh weather conditions.
