In a significant step reflecting the effectiveness of international security cooperation, the police services in the Marrakech Security Directorate, in coordination with the General Directorate for National Territorial Surveillance, successfully arrested a French national who was wanted internationally, on the evening of Friday, January 10, 2025.
The 25-year-old French citizen was in an illegal status in Morocco and was apprehended during a routine search, where a suspected forged passport was found in his possession. The operation led to the identification of the suspect, revealing that he was wanted under an international red notice issued by Interpol, following a request from French judicial authorities. Investigations indicate his involvement in an attempted murder case, making him a fugitive under a judicial sentence.
A check through the Interpol database confirmed that the individual posed a threat in matters of international crime, prompting coordinated efforts between various security agencies. After the arrest, the suspect was placed in police custody, and legal proceedings are ongoing under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office in preparation for the necessary legal actions.
This operation comes as part of Morocco’s strengthened cooperation with France in tackling transnational crime, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to enforcing international security agreements and pursuing fugitive criminals, regardless of their nationality or geographical location.
