France: “Doualemn,” a Third Algerian Influencer Arrested

A third Algerian influencer was arrested in France on Sunday after making violent remarks on social media, as announced by Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau on X. The mayor of Montpellier and the prefect of Hérault had reported to the judiciary a video posted on TikTok by this influencer, who resides in Montpellier, in which he called for violence against an anti-regime Algerian protester.

Following the arrests of Zazou Youcef and Imad Tintin, both accused of promoting terrorism, this third influencer, known as Doualemn, has now come under scrutiny from French authorities. With 138,000 followers on TikTok, he allegedly made statements directly targeting “those who wanted to protest on January 1 against the Algerian regime and a young activist whose death he desires because a person named Cohen shared his video,” reported Algerian activist Chawki Benzehra on X, highlighting the concerning rise of antisemitism in Algeria.

Mayor Michaël Delafosse of Montpellier also stated on X that he joined this initiative by reporting the incidents to the judiciary based on the Penal Code, emphasizing that “incitement to hatred is a crime, and this video leaves no doubt.”
