The administration of the “Ain Sebaa 1” local prison in Casablanca denied on Monday accusations of “torture to death of inmates” made by a former inmate against the head of the prison’s security and discipline service.
Responding in a clarification to accusations conveyed through videos posted on YouTube, the prison administration asserts that all accusations made by the former prisoner against the head of the security and discipline service are “unfounded,” adding that this official performs his duties in accordance with the rules stipulated by the law governing penitentiary institutions, under the supervision of the prison director.
The former inmate with numerous criminal records is known for his aggressive behavior towards staff and inmates, emphasizes the same source, adding that during his last incarceration, he committed several infractions related to violence within the institution.
The said inmate is a repeat offender convicted multiple times, notably for fraud, theft, possession and consumption of narcotics, and carrying weapons in circumstances threatening the safety of people and property, recalls the same source.
Given the seriousness of the accusations contained in the aforementioned recordings, which damage the image of the penitentiary sector and the reputation of its staff, the institution’s management has decided to file a complaint with the competent judicial authorities against the former inmate in question.
