Launch of the Regular Session of the Craftsmanship Chamber of Fes-Meknes Region for October 2024

This morning, December 30, 2024, the regular session of October 2024 for the Craftsmanship Chamber of the Fes-Meknes region began at the Conference Palace in Fes. The event was attended by high-ranking official representatives, led by the Wali of the Fes-Meknes region and Governor of Fes, who chaired the session. Also present at the opening were the President of the Fes-Meknes Regional Council, the President of the Fes Provincial Council, the President of the Fes Municipal Council, regional and provincial directors of traditional craftsmanship, social and solidarity economy, as well as the President of the Moroccan Federation of Craft Enterprises, the Director of the Office for Cooperative Development in Fes, the Parliamentary Advisor for the Fes-Meknes and Eastern regions, external services representatives, and members of the Chamber Council.

The Chamber President opened the session with a speech emphasizing the importance of the craftsmanship sector in the national economy, praising the significant role played by the Wali of the region in supporting the sector. He also expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the trust placed in local officials and for the efforts made to develop the sector.

The agenda of the session included several key items. The minutes of the previous session in June 2024 were presented, followed by the presentation of the current session’s report. A protocol for cooperation between the Chamber and the Moroccan-Spanish Association for Economic, Tourism, and Social Development was also up for approval.

In addition, the agenda included the approval of several agreements, including a cooperation agreement for the delegated supervision of the project “Support for Environmental Improvement of Traditional Lime Kilns and Pottery”, and a special agreement to establish a permanent regional handicrafts exhibition in Fes. Furthermore, the session would see the approval of projects related to the regional program to support trainees in the handicraft sector and a training program for the development of artisans’ capacities.

Finally, the session will also approve Addendum No. 3 to the partnership agreement for the construction of a handicraft complex in the city of Sefrou, as well as the addenda for the Chamber in Azrou, El Hajeb, Sefrou, and Taza. The internal regulations of the Craftsmanship Chamber of Fes-Meknes will be amended, and the Chamber’s budget for the year 2025 will be presented for approval.
