Attorney General Launches Investigation into Conversion of Development Project to Hotel in Sidi Kacem

A report by the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration has revealed serious violations concerning the conversion of a reception and training center in Sidi Kacem into a hotel. The center, funded with 15.5 million dirhams of public money as part of human development and anti-poverty programs, is now reportedly being used to host “Cheikhate” parties.

Informed sources state that Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit has filed a complaint with the Attorney General at the Rabat Court of Appeal. The complaint accuses both the former and current presidents of the Provincial Council and the president of the Communal Council of illegally exploiting the project by renting it to a political figure for a meager sum not exceeding 16,000 dirhams per month.

The Attorney General has decided to include this complaint in the ongoing investigations by the National Judicial Police Brigade. It is expected that the Governor of Sidi Kacem province, Habib Nadir, will initiate administrative dismissal procedures against the implicated officials after questioning them and referring the case to the administrative court.

This case highlights the importance of strict oversight of development and social projects, and the need to hold officials accountable for any violations that may negatively impact the public interest and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
