The city of Asilah witnessed an extraordinary incident on the evening of Wednesday, December 25, prompting swift police intervention after two brothers, in a state of public intoxication, threatened citizens and public property with bladed weapons in a hysterical outburst.
According to available information, a police patrol intervened to stop the brothers, who exhibited dangerously aggressive behavior. The suspects resisted fiercely, injuring one police officer with minor chest wounds. Given the escalating threat, the officers resorted to their service weapons, firing three warning shots to avoid direct injuries. However, as the danger persisted, a fourth shot struck the lower limbs of one suspect, enabling the police to bring the situation under control.
The injured suspect was immediately transported to the hospital for necessary medical care and is now under medical supervision with police oversight. His brother was placed under preventive detention pending the results of an ongoing judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor.
During the preliminary investigation, one victim who had been physically assaulted by the suspects provided testimony. Authorities continue their inquiries to uncover all circumstances and motives behind this serious incident while reaffirming their commitment to maintaining public safety and protecting citizens.
