On the first day of the Second National Forum on Advanced Regionalization, held on December 20, 2024, in Tangier, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit read a message from His Majesty King Mohammed VI addressed to the participants of this significant event. The royal message highlighted the King’s vision on the challenges and opportunities facing advanced regionalization in Morocco, underscoring the vital role of this developmental project in achieving sustainable growth and regional balance across the kingdom.
In his speech, Minister Laftit emphasized that since His Majesty ascended the throne, he has placed particular importance on advanced regionalization as a key pillar in enhancing decentralization and distributing powers between the state and local governments. The King’s message stressed the urgency of accelerating the transfer of responsibilities to regions, especially in priority areas such as investment and local economies, to overcome the challenges hindering the implementation of this major development initiative.
The royal message also underscored the importance of strengthening participatory democracy at the regional and local levels, enabling citizens and civil society organizations to actively contribute to the formulation and monitoring of public policies.
