The Moroccan authorities have launched the “Ri’aya” program in Tata Province, an initiative aimed at strengthening social protection and improving access to basic health services for populations in rural and remote areas. This program comes in implementation of King Mohammed VI’s directives and focuses particularly on supporting vulnerable groups and mitigating the effects of geographical isolation, especially during periods of severe cold.
The Governor of Tata Province, Mr. Salah Eddine Amal, has instructed all concerned parties to contribute positively to the “Ri’aya 2024-2025” program. The program aims to provide health and social services to the most needy groups, especially in rural and mountainous isolated areas that have recently been affected by floods.
As part of the program’s implementation, the Tata Province administration, in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Health and Social Protection, organized multidisciplinary medical caravans targeting various territorial communities in the province. These caravans included general and specialized medical examinations in various fields, including pulmonology, cardiology, gynecology, otolaryngology, rheumatology, dermatology, dentistry, geriatrics, psychiatry, pediatrics, and gastroenterology.
In addition, the caravans provided integrated medical services such as maternal and child care, screening for chronic diseases, and early detection of breast and cervical cancer. Medications were distributed free of charge to the beneficiaries, and critical cases were referred to the regional hospital in Tata for necessary treatment.
More than 1,500 people benefited from these multidisciplinary health caravans recently organized in Tata Province. The services provided included specialized and general medical examinations and nursing care for people of different ages, both male and female. Additionally, more than 800 people benefited from various health check-ups and awareness-raising sessions in different areas.
The “Ri’aya” program is considered an effective tool for addressing the social and economic challenges faced by the province, especially in light of the difficult climatic conditions that hinder citizen mobility and the provision of basic services. The program is expected to continue providing support and care to populations in remote areas, contributing to the improvement of health and social conditions for local communities in Tata Province.
