The Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection has refuted any connection between the deaths of four individuals at the Moulay Youssef Hospital Center in Rabat and a technical malfunction that affected the oxygen supply lines at the hospital.
In an explanatory statement issued on Saturday, December 14, 2024, the Ministry clarified that it had immediately dispatched an investigative committee from the Ministry’s General Inspectorate to the hospital center upon hearing news of the deaths. The committee’s report, which included officials, specialist doctors, and technicians, revealed that the causes of death were due to medical complications and were not related to the technical malfunction.
The statement indicated that the technical malfunction occurred at 11:35 AM on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, and lasted for only 40 minutes. During this period, portable oxygen cylinders were used to ensure continuity of treatment for all patients.
The Ministry confirmed that the two deaths recorded on Tuesday occurred hours after the malfunction, noting that the deceased had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit for extended periods before the malfunction occurred.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased, affirming its commitment to providing quality health and medical services to citizens. The Ministry promised to inform the public of any developments regarding this matter.
