The city of Fes witnessed a significant health event on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, with the visit of the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Amine Tehrawy. The Minister presided over the regular session of the board of directors of Hassan II University Hospital Center in Fes and inaugurated a new cardiac catheterization center at Ghassani Hospital.
The board meeting was attended by the Governor of the Fes-Meknes region, Mr. Muadh Al-Jami’i, along with the hospital’s general director and board members. The meeting covered several important topics, including evaluating the hospital center’s achievements, approving the minutes of the previous meeting, reviewing the center’s activities for 2023, discussing the administrative account, and assessing the implementation of board decisions.
The meeting also reviewed the execution of the hospital center’s budget for 2024, presented the work plan for the same year, discussed the 2025 budget proposal, and examined cooperation agreements signed by the hospital center.
In a significant step towards enhancing health services in the region, Minister Tehrawy inaugurated the new cardiac catheterization center at the cardiology department of Ghassani Hospital. This center is the first of its kind at the regional hospital level and has been equipped with the latest advanced medical equipment.
The opening of this center comes as part of national efforts to implement the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI regarding the reform and development of the health sector, as well as to support the social protection project and comprehensive health coverage.
The new center is expected to benefit approximately 4.5 million people in the Fes-Meknes region. It will improve access to cardiovascular disease treatment services and reduce waiting times for specialized surgical interventions, especially cardiac catheterization procedures.
This vital project cost 16.4 million dirhams and is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Regional Council, and the “Injad” Association. The ministry has ensured the provision of highly qualified medical and nursing staff to guarantee the delivery of excellent health services that meet the needs of the population in this important specialty.
With this step, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection reaffirms its commitment to developing health infrastructure and improving the quality of medical services provided to citizens across the kingdom.
