In his remarks, Abdelilah Benkirane, leader of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), expressed concern about the growing influence of Western values, warning that they could lead to legislation that contradicts the principles of Islamic Sharia.
Benkirane also addressed the social and political challenges facing Morocco in the face of Western influence and globalization. He stated that the country must preserve its national and cultural identity while finding innovative solutions to economic and social problems, such as the issue of Zakat and its application in the modern system. He emphasized that the Justice and Development Party remains committed to defending Islamic principles in all laws and legislation, affirming that the reforms proposed by the party must strike a balance between modernity and cultural identity.
Speaking about democracy and reform, Benkirane highlighted the role of the Justice and Development Party in presenting a reformist approach based on Islamic principles in Morocco. He noted that political stability is essential for achieving comprehensive development, urging all political parties to work together to strengthen institutions and the democratic process in the country.
In conclusion, Benkirane called on Moroccan youth to take responsibility in the upcoming phase and actively participate in the reform process. He reiterated that change is possible, but it must be done while preserving the religious and moral foundations that are the bedrock of Moroccan society. He also affirmed that his party will continue to support any effort aimed at achieving genuine and constructive reforms within these principles.
