Morocco Records Historic 15.9 Million Tourists by November 2024

Morocco has achieved a historic milestone in tourism, recording 15.9 million tourists during the first eleven months of 2024, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy. These figures represent a 20% growth compared to the same period in 2023, an increase of 2.6 million additional visitors.

This remarkable growth was driven by a significant increase in foreign tourists, up by 23%, equivalent to 1.5 million additional visitors, along with a robust 17% growth in Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE), contributing an additional 1.1 million visits.

November alone was exceptional, with the Kingdom welcoming nearly 1.3 million tourists, registering an extraordinary growth of 31%.

Commenting on these results, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, stated: “We are experiencing an unprecedented phase in the dynamic history of tourism in Morocco.” She added that these record figures prove the effectiveness of the roadmap that has been put in place and represent a major step towards the goal of positioning Morocco among the top 15 global tourist destinations.

These outstanding results come on the heels of a series of tourism achievements Morocco has accomplished throughout 2024. In October, Morocco had already recorded 14.6 million visitors, surpassing the record for the entire year of 2023 in just 10 months. The summer also saw positive results, with a notable increase in visitors across various tourist regions in the Kingdom.

This continued growth reflects the success of Morocco’s tourism strategy for 2023-2026, which aims to enhance the Kingdom’s position as a world-class tourist destination. This strategy includes diversifying the tourism offer across 12 regions and improving air transport infrastructure.

With these exceptional figures, Morocco confirms its position as a leading tourist destination on the international stage, reinforcing the role of the tourism sector as a key driver of economic and social development in the Kingdom.
